Theodore J. Richardson

Theodore Jerome Richardson werd geboren in Readfield, Maine, en groeide op in Red Wing, Minnesota. Na de middelbare school studeerde hij aan de Boston Normal Art School, voordat hij terugkeerde naar Minnesota, waar hij kunst, schoonschrift en meetkunde onderwees aan het Minnesota State Normal College in Winona. In 1880 werd Richardson aangenomen door de openbare scholen van Minneapolis als superintendent van industrieel tekenen. Als stichtend vader en charterlid van de Minneapolis Society of Fine Arts in 1883, had hij zijn eerste postume retrospectieve tentoonstelling in 1928. Richardson is het meest bekend om zijn Alaskase schilderijen, die hij tijdens de zomers vanaf 1884 schilderde.
