Schizzi mitologici e architettura illusionistica
Thomas Carwitham è noto principalmente per i suoi schizzi che illustrano scene della mitologia classica, tratte soprattutto dalle «Metamorfosi» di Ovidio. Si ritiene che in un certo periodo sia stato allievo del pittore decorativo Sir James Thornhill, specializzandosi in seguito nella pittura di architetture e sculture illusionistiche.
