Thomas Carwitham
Mythologische schetsen en illusionistische architectuur
Thomas Carwitham is vooral bekend om zijn schetsen die taferelen uit de klassieke mythologie illustreren, voornamelijk uit Ovidius' 'Metamorfosen'. Men neemt aan dat hij ooit een leerling was van de decoratieschilder Sir James Thornhill, waarna hij zich specialiseerde in het schilderen van illusionistische architectuur en beeldhouwkunst.
