Utagawa Kuniyoshi
Maestro di stampe di samurai
Utagawa Kuniyoshi fu uno degli ultimi grandi maestri dello stile giapponese ukiyo-e di xilografie e pittura. Era membro della scuola Utagawa. I soggetti trattati da Kuniyoshi comprendevano molti generi: paesaggi, donne belle, attori di kabuki, gatti e animali mitologici. È noto per le sue rappresentazioni delle battaglie di leggendari eroi samurai. Le sue opere d'arte incorporavano aspetti della rappresentazione occidentale nella pittura di paesaggio e nella caricatura.
