Utagawa Toyohiro
Pionier der Ukiyo-e-Landschaften
Utagawa Toyohiro (歌川豊広, Geburtsname Okajima Tōjiro) war ein japanischer Ukiyo-e-Künstler und Maler. Er war Mitglied der Utagawa-Schule und studierte unter Utagawa Toyoharu, dem Gründer der Schule. Seine Werke umfassen eine Reihe von Ukiyo-e-Landschaftsserien sowie viele Darstellungen der täglichen Aktivitäten im Vergnügungsviertel Yoshiwara; viele seiner stilistischen Merkmale ebneten den Weg für Hokusai und Hiroshige (letzterer war ein Wunderkind, das unter Toyohiro studierte und zu einem der besten Landschaftskünstler wurde), und er produzierte auch eine wichtige Serie von Ukiyo-e-Triptychen in Zusammenarbeit mit Toyokuni sowie zahlreiche Buch- und E-hon-Illustrationen, die ihn in seinen späteren Jahren beschäftigten.
