古典废墟的地形记录
维克多-让·尼科尔是一位法国艺术家。 尼科尔出生于巴黎。他很早就展现出在风景构图方面的天赋，1771年，作为皇家绘画学校的学生，他赢得了透视奖。他对描绘古典废墟的建筑产生了浓厚的兴趣，为了追求这一热情，他踏上了游历南欧的旅程，包括意大利（威尼斯、博洛尼亚、佛罗伦萨、那不勒斯和罗马）以及法国。 他对罗马着迷，曾于1787–89年和1806–11年两次前往那里绘制建筑。 维克多-让·尼科勒的作品包括《从卢浮宫圆形窗户看到的塞纳河新桥》（1808年后不久），该作品描绘了从巴黎卢浮宫东立面柱廊后方的其中一扇圆形窗户所见的景色，因此得名。 他的作品构成了城市环境的重要历史与地形记录。
