Watanabe Nobukazu
Berühmt für Kriegsdrucke der Meiji-Zeit
Tokioer Druckdesigner und Maler. Er gilt als der beste Schüler von Yōshū Chikanobu (1838-1912), der in einer Vielzahl von Genres arbeitete, von Bildern schöner Frauen (Biinga) bis hin zu berühmten Ansichten des modernisierenden Tokio (Kaika-e), einschließlich Darstellungen nationaler Industrieausstellungen, Porträts des Kaisers und der Kaiserin sowie Kriegsdrucken zum Chinesisch-Japanischen und Russisch-Japanischen Krieg (Senso-e). Er ist vielleicht am bekanntesten für seine Kriegsdrucke. Während des Chinesisch-Japanischen Krieges (1894-1895) schuf Nobukazu eine beträchtliche Anzahl herausragender Triptychen und erlangte Ruhm durch die Gestaltung von Schlachtszenen an Land und auf See.
