Watanabe Nobukazu
Célèbre pour ses estampes de guerre
Concepteur d'estampes et peintre de Tokyo. Considéré comme le meilleur élève de Yōshū Chikanobu (1838-1912), il a travaillé dans une variété de genres, allant des images de belles femmes (biinga) aux vues célèbres de Tokyo en modernisation (kaika-e), y compris des représentations d'expositions industrielles nationales, des portraits de l'empereur et de l'impératrice, ainsi que des estampes de guerre sur les guerres sino-japonaise et russo-japonaise (senso-e). Il est peut-être surtout connu pour ses estampes de guerre. Pendant la guerre sino-japonaise (1894-1895), Nobukazu a réalisé un nombre considérable de triptyques remarquables et s'est fait une réputation en concevant des scènes de bataille terrestres et maritimes. Il a également produit des lithographies.
