William Hamilton
Pintó escenas shakespearianas e ilustró poemas
William Hamilton (1751–1801) fue un pintor e ilustrador inglés. Hamilton nació en Chelsea, Londres, pero viajó y trabajó en Italia con Antonio Zucchi durante varios años. Se formó primero como dibujante arquitectónico, pero pronto pasó a retratos teatrales y escenas de obras de teatro. Hamilton se convirtió en miembro asociado de la Royal Academy en 1784 y fue nombrado miembro de pleno derecho en 1789. Hamilton se hizo muy conocido por sus pinturas que representaban episodios de las obras de Shakespeare y por sus ilustraciones de poemas. Fue encargado de crear obras para la Galería Shakespeare de John Boydell, la Biblia de Thomas Macklin y la Historia Inglesa de Robert Bowyer. Estas fueron ampliamente reproducidas en grabados populares.
