William Hamilton
Pintou cenas shakespearianas e ilustrou poemas
William Hamilton (1751–1801) foi um pintor e ilustrador inglês. Hamilton nasceu em Chelsea, Londres, mas viajou e trabalhou na Itália com Antonio Zucchi por vários anos. Ele treinou primeiro como desenhista arquitetônico, mas logo passou para retratos teatrais e cenas de peças de teatro. Hamilton tornou-se membro associado da Royal Academy em 1784 e foi nomeado membro pleno em 1789. Hamilton tornou-se muito conhecido por suas pinturas que retratavam episódios das peças de Shakespeare e por suas ilustrações de poemas. Ele foi contratado para criar obras para a Galeria Shakespeare de John Boydell, a Bíblia de Thomas Macklin e a História Inglesa de Robert Bowyer. Estas foram amplamente reproduzidas em gravuras populares.
