Xavier Mellery
Pintor y escultor simbolista belga
Xavier Mellery fue un pintor simbolista belga. Hijo de un jardinero del Palacio Real de Laeken, Mellery trabajó inicialmente con el pintor y decorador Charles Albert. Asistió a la Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts en Bruselas desde 1860 hasta 1867, siendo uno de sus profesores Jean-François Portaels. Mellery ganó el Prix de Rome y viajó a Italia, donde estudió pinturas del Renacimiento. Entre sus obras se encuentra El Rondó de las Horas. Mellery diseñó las estatuas de las 48 profesiones históricas en el jardín del Petit Sablon en Bruselas.
