張択端
北宋の都市生活を描く
張択端（生没年不詳、一説1085–1145）、字は正道。密州東武（現在の山東省諸城市）出身で、中国北宋時代の画家である。 Zhang Zeduan loved learning from a young age. In his early years, he traveled to the Northern Song capital Bianjing (now Kaifeng, Henan) to study, and later focused on painting, developing a high level of artistic skill. During the reign of Emperor Huizong of Song, Zhang worked at the Hanlin Painting Academy and became a court painter. He specialized in architectural painting and especially enjoyed painting boats, carts, markets, bridges, streets, and city walls, developing a unique style. Later, 'after losing his official position, he lived at home and sold paintings to make a living.' 張擇端の名高い風俗画『清明上河図』は、都市の日常生活を生き生きとリアルに描いた作品です。この長巻は、静かな郊外から賑やかな街並みまで、北宋の都・汴京の繁栄ぶりを細かくかつ鮮やかに再現しており、極めて高い歴史的価値を持っています。作品は汴河を中心に、写実的な手法と卓越した芸術的才能によって、さまざまな情景や人々を詳細かつ生き生きと描写しています。全長5メートルを超えるこの巻物には、550人以上の人物に加え、多くの牛、馬、車、船、家屋、橋、都市構造物が丹念に描き込まれています。そこから当時の経済状況、都市と農村の関係、社会風習を知ることができ、宋代の政治、経済、技術、文化を研究する上で貴重な視覚資料となっています。 『清明上河図』のほか、彼に帰属される現存する作品には、龍舟競争の様子を描いた『金明池争標図』がある。
