Master of Tang steed paintings

Zhao Lin(赵霖) (12th century) was from Luoyang (now Luoyang, Henan) during the Jin dynasty. His exact birth and death years are unknown. During the reign of Emperor Shizong of Jin, he served as a painter at the imperial painting academy and was skilled at painting horses and people. The only surviving work of Zhao Lin is the handscroll "Six Steeds of Zhaoling," which is now housed in the Palace Museum. This scroll was created based on the stone carvings of the Six Steeds at Emperor Taizong's Zhaoling tomb from the Tang dynasty. The scroll is divided into six sections, each depicting a horse, accompanied by inscriptions praising them. These inscriptions were written by Zhao Bingwen, a calligrapher from the Jin dynasty.
