The Bowl by Adolf Wölfli, 1916

Step into the dizzying, skull-lined universe of Adolf Wölfli, a Swiss psychiatric patient who created over 25,000 pages of art while institutionalized. Der Napf (The Bowl) is a hypnotic, concentric maze of vibrant colored pencils, where geometric patterns, musical notations, and grinning skeletons spiral inward toward a mysterious center. Wölfli, a pioneer of what is now called Art Brut or Outsider Art, filled every inch of his paper with these elaborate, imaginary worlds to cope with his traumatic past and schizophrenia. Looking closely at the tiny, frantic handwriting and intricate cross-hatching, you can almost hear the chaotic symphony he claimed to be composing in his head.
