Corriere Della Sera – Milan

1898

Look at this dynamic poster where the messenger god Mercury swoops down over a bustling Milanese street at night, winged sandals fluttering and news bag in tow! Adolfo Hohenstein created this iconic advertisement for the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera to symbolize the speed and reach of their evening news delivery. The contrast between the mythological figure soaring above and the ordinary folks waiting below perfectly captures the excitement of breaking news arriving in the city. It's a brilliant example of Italian Art Nouveau, blending classical mythology with modern urban life.
