Landscape with Adam and Eve
1559-1569
Step into a rugged, ancient world where towering, craggy cliffs dwarf the tiny figures of Adam and Eve huddled at the base. Painted by Flemish artist Cornelis van Dalem during the Renaissance, this dramatic landscape feels more like a wild fantasy realm than the traditional Garden of Eden, complete with roaming horses, grazing deer, and jagged rock formations stretching into the hazy distance. Van Dalem was famous for these moody, atmospheric settings, often letting the raw, untamed power of nature take center stage over the biblical figures themselves.
