Landscape with Trees： a River in the Background
Step into a quiet corner of the English countryside where tall, windswept trees stand guard over a peaceful river valley. David Charles Read uses soft washes of color to capture the hazy light of either dawn or dusk, creating a mood of serene solitude. The distant hills fade into a pale pink sky, perfectly embodying the Romantic era's love for the 'picturesque'—nature that is beautiful, tranquil, and just a little bit wild. It feels like a snapshot of a fleeting moment, frozen in time before the light changes completely.
