Angel, Half-Figure
Here we have a delicate sketch of an angel in profile, looking upward with a serene expression. The flowing hair and single wing suggest a celestial messenger, drawn with quick, confident strokes that capture a sense of movement. Interestingly, the French inscription at the bottom reveals this isn't an original composition but a study after Albrecht Dürer's famous 'Trinity' engraving. David Humbert de Superville, a Dutch artist and physician, created this copy to analyze Dürer's masterful lines, showing how Renaissance masters continued to influence artists centuries later.
