Look at the sheer muscle tension in this guy's back! This is Saint Christopher, the patron saint of travelers, caught mid-stride wading through a river with the Christ child on his shoulders. According to legend, Christopher was a giant who ferried people across a dangerous river; one day he carried a small child who became impossibly heavy, revealing himself as Jesus carrying the weight of the world. Campagnola uses frantic, scratchy lines to show the effort, making the saint look like he's straining under a massive burden rather than just a toddler.
