The Wrong Moment by Eduardo Zamacois y Zabala, circa 1868

Imagine being an artist in the middle of a painting session, and suddenly your father walks in! That's exactly the awkward scene Zamacois captures here. A painter, palette in hand, looks startled as an older gentleman peers through the doorway of his studio, while the nude model perched on a yellow-draped box tries to maintain her composure. It's a humorous snapshot of 19th-century bohemian life gone wrong, painted with incredible detail in the Academic style. The cluttered studio, complete with a folding screen and scattered props, adds to the chaotic, 'caught in the act' feeling.
