Vampire II by Edvard Munch, 1987

Munch originally titled this haunting scene 'Love and Pain,' but the public's imagination ran wild, dubbing it 'Vampire' because the woman's embrace looks like she's biting the man's neck. This woodcut version, created around 1902, strips away the details to focus on the raw, emotional curve of the woman's red hair enveloping her lover. It's a classic example of Symbolism, where feelings matter more than realistic details. The dark, swirling background makes the pale skin and fiery hair pop, creating a mood of intense, almost dangerous intimacy.
