Deer Lawn Figure
c. 1940
Meet the ultimate 1940s garden guest: a stiff-legged stag with a permanent look of surprise. Elisabeth Fulda designed this 'Lawn Figure' to bring a touch of the wild into domestic spaces, rendering it with the smooth, golden-brown hues of bronze. The deer stands on a simple block, sporting a shaggy neck ruff and impressive antlers, looking ready to bolt at any moment. The 'Fig. 170' stamp in the corner reveals its secret life as a catalog illustration, a page from a book helping homeowners dream up their perfect garden sanctuary.
