The Sleeping Beauty
1919
Step into a fairy tale frozen in time! In this 1919 illustration by Elizabeth Tyler Wolcott, a brave prince in a blue tunic peers into a chamber where everyone has fallen into a deep slumber. He clutches a striking red plume, gazing at the sleeping blonde princess who lies peacefully on the bed in the background. Even her ladies-in-waiting have succumbed to the magic spell, slumped on the floor in eternal rest. This charming piece was actually created for the National Child Welfare Association, bringing classic stories to children over a century ago.
