De Feldsee
ca 1888
Emil Lugo captures the moody, almost eerie atmosphere of the Feldsee in this late 19th-century landscape, steering clear of the typical sunny, idyllic postcard view. Instead, he focuses intently on the tangled, bleached driftwood scattered across the muddy shore, which contrasts sharply with the deep, shadowy greens of the surrounding Black Forest. Painted around 1888, this realistic depiction feels like a quiet, solitary moment frozen in time, inviting the viewer to step right into its dark, reflective waters and wonder what secrets the forest is hiding.
