Borboletas Pr.07
1920
Emile-Allain Séguy’s vibrant 1920 plate transforms ordinary insects into bold, graphic masterpieces. Notice the striking teal and black stripes that look almost like zebra patterns, paired with eerie, skull-like eyespots on the lower wings of the largest moths. Created during the roaring twenties, this piece is part of his famous 'Papillons' portfolio, which was originally designed to inspire textile and wallpaper designers. The flat, vivid colors and geometric precision perfectly capture the transition from Art Nouveau's organic curves to the sleek, modern lines of Art Deco.
