Tineida. – Moths by Ernst Haeckel, 1904

German biologist Ernst Haeckel believed nature was the ultimate artist, and this 1904 plate from his famous book *Kunstformen der Natur* (Art Forms in Nature) is his proof. It features a stunning array of moths, including the Many-plumed Moth (*Alucita*) at the top and various Tineidae moths below, arranged with mesmerizing symmetry against a dark background. Haeckel’s intricate illustrations were so influential that they helped shape the Art Nouveau movement, proving that scientific accuracy and aesthetic beauty aren't mutually exclusive. He basically created the original biomimicry design manual.
