Vista del glaciar de Aletsch II
Ernst Schiess captures the chilling majesty of the Aletsch Glacier with bold, sweeping brushstrokes that make the massive river of ice look like it's sliding right off the canvas. The cool blues and stark whites of the foreground contrast sharply with the muted, almost alien pale green of the sky and distant mountains, giving the scene a distinctly modern, Post-Impressionist vibe. You can almost feel the crisp alpine air and the sheer scale of the frozen landscape just by following the directional strokes carving through the ice.
