Cubo de fuego de cuero
c. 1936
Before modern fire hoses, communities relied on leather buckets like this one to fight blazes, passing them hand-to-hand in a human chain. Erwin Schwabe's 1936 illustration captures a sturdy example, complete with a heavy handle attached by metal rings and the name 'SMITH' boldly painted across the dark leather side. The careful stitching at the base and the warm interior tone suggest a well-used, practical tool from a bygone era of firefighting.
