La passerelle de la Concorde by Ferdinand Boberg, 1926

Ferdinand Boberg captured this fleeting Parisian scene in 1926, sketching the temporary wooden footbridge known as the Passerelle de la Concorde. Built to ease traffic during the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs, this rickety-looking structure crossed the Seine right in front of the Palais Bourbon. The Swedish architect used expressive strokes to convey the bridge's chaotic timber framework and its shimmering reflection on the water, preserving a structure that was destined to be torn down.
