A Choice
Ferdinand Roybet captures a moment of playful tension in this lively scene, where a red-haired woman stands caught between two eager suitors. The man on the left, sporting a dashing wide-brimmed hat and ruff, holds her arm, while the other leans in with a knowing grin. The loose, energetic brushstrokes give the figures a sense of movement and immediacy, typical of Roybet's love for historical genre scenes. Judging by her amused expression, she's enjoying every second of the attention and taking her time making 'A Choice'!
