Rinaldo and Armida', 'zh-CN by Francesco Curradi

Here we have a classic case of 'enemies to lovers' straight out of Torquato Tasso's epic poem *Jerusalem Delivered*. The sorceress Armida was sent to assassinate the Christian knight Rinaldo, but when she found him resting in the woods, she was so struck by his beauty that she dropped her weapon—and eventually her mission. In this scene, Rinaldo looks up in bewildered charm, his helmet discarded on the ground, while Armida leans against the tree, seemingly caught between her deadly duty and sudden infatuation. It captures that precise moment where a hit job turns into a romance, painted with the rich, theatrical flair of the early 17th-century Florentine school.
