Rosenlaui Glacier in the Hasli region
Friedrich Rosenberg captures the sheer, terrifying scale of the Swiss Alps in this dramatic view of the Rosenlaui Glacier. Tiny figures huddle in the bottom right corner, looking up at the massive river of ice that dominates the valley, perfectly illustrating the Romantic obsession with nature's overwhelming power. The jagged rocks frame the scene like a theater stage, forcing the viewer to confront the sublime beauty and danger of the frozen landscape.
