Summer Mountains After Rain
Painted on a round fan face, this serene landscape captures the quiet aftermath of a summer rainstorm where mist clings to mountains and trees like a soft blanket. A lone figure in a small boat drifts across the calm water, seemingly enjoying the peaceful solitude of the scene. Gao Kegong, a Yuan dynasty master, used delicate ink washes to create a dreamy, atmospheric perspective where distant peaks look like they're floating on clouds. This style emphasizes the 'void' or empty space, inviting the viewer to imagine the cool, fresh air after the rain.
