Horses at the Ford
Giovanni Segantini captures a quiet, almost magical moment in the countryside with these three horses cooling off in a shallow pool. The warm, pinkish glow of the sky suggests either dawn or dusk, casting long, shimmering reflections of the animals onto the water's surface. Known for his Symbolist roots, Segantini often infused rural scenes with a deep, spiritual connection to nature, turning a simple moment of horses drinking into something profoundly peaceful. The dark, rolling hills and distant farmhouses frame the scene, emphasizing the solitude and tranquility of the Alpine landscape he loved so much.
