La Lezione
Giuseppe Bonito brings an 18th-century classroom to life with a mix of seriousness and chaos. A stern tutor in a red biretta hat gestures dramatically at a large book, trying to teach a group of very different students. The boy in the red coat and white wig looks intensely focused on his writing, while a toddler nearby stares up with wide-eyed confusion. It’s a delightful example of Neapolitan Rococo genre painting, showing that even hundreds of years ago, getting kids to pay attention was a universal struggle!
