Girl of the Bernese Children
Gottfried Mind, famously nicknamed the 'Raphael of Cats' for his incredible animal drawings, turns his gentle gaze to human subjects here. We see three young children in traditional Bernese folk dress; an older girl guides a toddler toward a seated sibling who looks ready to clap with joy. In the bottom right, a whimsical toy mouse on a string waits to be pulled—a playful nod to the artist's true passion, as if he couldn't resist sneaking a potential cat toy into this sweet family scene.
