My Garden
Bleak winter days get a moody makeover in this loose, atmospheric scene by Belgian Impressionist Guillaume Vogels. Bare, scratchy trees reach up into a heavy gray sky, framing a cluster of shadowy houses that look like they're melting into the mist. Vogels was a key figure in Belgian Impressionism, often capturing the quiet, sometimes gloomy beauty of everyday landscapes around Brussels. His thick, expressive brushstrokes here feel almost like a hurried sketch come to life, perfectly freezing a chilly afternoon where the world feels paused and quiet.
