Rotolo a sospensione del Canto del Pipa su carta 154×46.6 Museo del Palazzo Pechino
Created by Ming Dynasty artist Guo Xu, this vertical scroll brings to life a legendary literary encounter: the meeting between poet Bai Juyi and a pipa player on a moonlit river. The upper section is dominated by sweeping, cursive calligraphy reciting the famous 'Song of the Pipa,' a poem about shared sorrow and exile. Below, in expressive ink outlines, we see the two protagonists—the seated official looking contemplative and the musician holding her lute. It’s a visual tribute to the famous line 'We are both wretched people at the end of the world,' blending poetry and painting into one emotional package.
