Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains - Scroll Box 1
This dark, elegant wooden box serves as the guardian for one of China's most legendary masterpieces, 'Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains' by Yuan Dynasty master Huang Gongwang. The gold calligraphy stands out beautifully against the wood grain, announcing the treasure within. The painting inside has a wild history: a collector loved it so much he ordered it burned upon his death in 1650, but his nephew snatched it from the flames, accidentally severing it into two unequal pieces. Today, the two halves are separated between museums in Hangzhou and Taipei, making this box a symbol of a fractured but enduring treasure.
