Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains - Scroll Box 2
Before you even see the masterpiece, this dark, wood-grain textured box sets a mysterious tone with its central red seal reading 'Famous Masters' Ink.' It serves as the elegant container for a reproduction of Huang Gongwang's legendary 'Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains,' a landscape scroll painted over several years starting when the artist was nearly 80. The original scroll has a dramatic history—it was nearly burned to ashes in 1650 by a devoted collector who wanted to take it to his grave, an act that tragically split the work into two separate pieces that survive today.
