Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains (Master Wuyong Scroll) - Painting Core
Huang Gongwang spent years painting this sweeping landscape of the Fuchun River, reportedly carrying it around and adding touches whenever inspiration struck. But its most dramatic moment came centuries later when a dying collector ordered it burned as a funeral sacrifice—his nephew snatched it from the flames, but not before it was torn into two pieces. This longer surviving section, known as the 'Master Wuyong Scroll,' is considered a masterpiece of Yuan Dynasty ink painting and is now treasured in the National Palace Museum in Taipei.
