Wonen in de Fuchun-bergen (Meester Wuyong-rol) - Colofon 4 - Zou Zhilin
Think of this as a centuries-old fan letter attached to a masterpiece! This elegant strip of calligraphy is a colophon written by Zou Zhilin, appended to the legendary 'Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains' scroll by Huang Gongwang. The original painting was so beloved that a Qing dynasty collector ordered it burned to accompany him to the afterlife, but his nephew snatched it from the flames, accidentally splitting it into two famous halves. Zou Zhilin's flowing 'running script' praises Huang Gongwang (referring to him by his style name, Zijiu) and expresses his own deep obsession with the art. It's a beautiful example of how Chinese scrolls often became collaborative albums of appreciation over generations.
