Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains (Master Wuyong Scroll) - Colophon 5 - Jin Shisong by Huang Gongwang

Written in 1786 by Jin Shisong, one of the Qianlong Emperor's top ministers, this elegant calligraphy serves as a historical 'commentary track' for Huang Gongwang's legendary *Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains*. As part of the famous 'Master Wuyong Scroll,' this text gossips about the painting's dramatic survival—it was nearly burned to ashes by a grieving collector in 1650, splitting it into two pieces. The writing also hints at a royal embarrassment: the Emperor had proudly collected a fake version (the 'Ziming scroll'), while the genuine masterpiece sat in his own palace. Jin Shisong and four other ministers were eventually commissioned to write inscriptions on the real deal to honor it properly.
