Haystacks In A Russian Landscape
Isaac Levitan captures the moody beauty of the Russian countryside in this energetic sketch. Golden haystacks stand like silent sentinels against a dramatic, swirling sky where patches of bright blue fight through heavy grey clouds. The loose, thick brushstrokes give the scene a sense of immediacy, as if the artist was racing to capture the changing light and atmosphere before a storm rolled in.
