The Last Judgement by Jan Brueghel The Elder, 1601

Jan Brueghel the Elder, son of the famous Pieter Bruegel, didn't hold back on the drama in this 1601 Baroque masterpiece. The scene is split into a celestial VIP section at the top, where Christ and the Virgin Mary look down from fluffy clouds, and a chaotic nightmare below. Down here, it's pure pandemonium: demons with pitchforks are dragging screaming souls into a fiery pit on the right, while others look up in terror or relief. Brueghel, nicknamed 'Velvet Brueghel' for his incredibly smooth painting style, packed hundreds of tiny, expressive figures into this swirling composition, making it a visual overload of heaven and hell colliding.
