The Performance
Jean-Honoré Fragonard captures a delightfully spontaneous moment of Rococo charm, where two women are utterly captivated by a small dog performing tricks on a table. With loose, energetic brushstrokes, the artist brings the scene to life—the blonde woman on the left leans in with a playful gesture, while her companion watches the eager pup stand on its hind legs. It feels less like a formal portrait and more like a candid snapshot of 18th-century leisure, showcasing Fragonard's genius for capturing fleeting, joyful interactions.
