Sevillanas (Ladies of Seville)@Figurative
Joaquín Sorolla captures the vibrant spirit of Andalusia in this striking scene of two women, likely in Seville. The central figure stands tall and confident, draped in a traditional black mantilla that contrasts sharply with the warm, sun-drenched yellow wall behind her. Notice how the light hits her face and the intricate lace of her dress—this is Sorolla's signature 'luminism' at work, making the sunlight feel almost tangible. The playful girl peeking out from behind adds a touch of candid charm to this masterful study of Spanish culture and light.
