アレクサンダー・ハミルトン
1804-6
You probably recognize this sharp-dressed founding father from the front of the US ten-dollar bill! John Trumbull painted Alexander Hamilton around 1804, capturing his intense, far-off gaze and signature powdered hair just before his tragic duel with Aaron Burr. The moody, dark background makes his crisp white cravat and thoughtful expression pop, giving us a surprisingly intimate glimpse into the mind of one of America's most controversial financial architects. It's a far cry from the hip-hop musical version, but the ambition in those eyes is unmistakable.
