雙鷹圖 絹本66.8×120
Lin Liang was the Ming Dynasty's bad boy of bird painting, ditching the court's fancy colors for bold, messy ink. Here, two eagles look ready to launch off a jagged rock, their feathers scratched out with rough, energetic strokes. The bamboo and vines around them twist wildly, looking like they're blowing in a strong wind. It's a great example of his 'xieyi' (freehand) style, which was all about capturing the raw spirit and energy of nature rather than just making it look pretty.
