Bismarck Celebration
1915
Step into a flurry of patriotic energy with this sketch-like scene from 1915. Lovis Corinth depicts a 'Bismarck Celebration' with the German Empire's black, white, and red flags waving boldly against a washed-out blue sky. A grand domed building anchors the background while the foreground crowd is rendered in frantic, scribbled strokes that convey the chaotic excitement of the moment. Marked as number 28 out of an edition of 30, this lithograph showcases Corinth's shift toward Expressionism, trading perfect realism for raw emotional impact during the height of World War I.
